Install it like an app

On iPhone and iPad (Safari) or Android (Chrome), Owndom gets its own icon, opens full screen and can send you notifications. The steps are below.

Open Owndom

Members can also download the Android app: sign in on this page.

Windows

Windows app

Owndom in its own window on Windows 10 and 11. It keeps you signed in, can save your password and updates itself.

The Windows app is available to members: sign in on this page to download it.

Linux

Linux app

The same app for 64-bit Linux: a package for Ubuntu, Debian and Mint, or an AppImage that runs on most other distributions.

The Linux app is available to members: sign in on this page to download it.

On your phone

  1. iPhone or iPad (iOS 16.4 or newer): open owndom.alk.homes/app in Safari (other browsers on iOS can't install it). Tap Share (on newer Safari, it's under the menu button at the left of the address bar), scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  2. Android: members can download the Owndom app (sign in on this page, tap Download for Android, open the file and allow installing from your browser when Android asks). Or open it in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu and choose Install app.
  3. Open Owndom from the new icon on your Home Screen and sign in.
  4. For notifications (a friend's message, a finished reply): Your profile → Phone notifications → Turn on for this device, and allow them when your phone asks.

On Windows

  1. Download the app (sign in on this page first) and run the installer.
  2. Sign in with your Owndom account. Tick Remember me and the app keeps you signed in, and offers to save your password so the sign-in form fills itself next time.
  3. That's it. The app updates itself when a new version is out. More in the docs.

On Linux

  1. Sign in on this page, then download the .deb (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint) or the AppImage (most other distributions).
  2. .deb: install it with sudo apt install ./Owndom_*_amd64.deb, then open Owndom from your applications menu.
  3. AppImage: make it runnable with chmod +x Owndom_*_amd64.AppImage, then open it. Some distributions need the libfuse2 package first.
  4. Sign in with your Owndom account. For a new version, download it again from this page; automatic updates on Linux come later.
